MP3 format is shutting down

The MP3 file format, which revolutionized the world of digital audio technology, is now officially gone. The organization that created this digital audio coding format has announced the closure of their patent licensing program.

The Franhofer Institute in Germany, which had several patents for MP3s, has said it will no longer sell MP3 licenses. As a result, technology and media companies will not be able to use MP3 for long.

The most popular audio format instead of MP3 is AAC or Advanced Audio Coding. It is being used in place of audio for mobile video and music streaming / downloading. AAC is capable of delivering high quality audio at a lower bitrate (simply smaller size) than MP3.

Various technology companies, such as Apple, have long been offering MP3s as well as AAC support on their music devices.

Even after MP3's licensing program is closed, the MP3 files you have downloaded will continue. And MP3 is not going to be lost anywhere in the near future. However, it will gradually be replaced by AAC (or any other standard, although AAC is more likely). At the same time, various media and technology companies will reduce the use of MP3 in their device / file support system, it can be said with closed eyes.

Anyway, goodbye MP3. Spent some good time together; )
