Go online checklist
Before starting the journey, drivers will be asked through a new Go Online checklist whether they have taken appropriate steps to ensure safety and whether they are wearing masks. A similar checklist has been created for passengers. They must make sure that they are using masks and that they have washed their hands or used sanitizer before starting each journey.
Mask Verification
Drivers will be asked to take a selfie after the mask before taking any trip. Uber's new technology will test whether the driver is wearing a mask.
Accountability for all
New options have been added to respond to whether a passenger or driver is wearing a mask or covering their face.
Update cancellation policy
If the driver or passenger feels unsafe, they can cancel the trip immediately. They can cancel the trip even if they are not wearing a mask or covering their face.
Limited seating arrangements: Passengers are requested to sit in the back seat only to maintain a safe distance between the driver and the passenger while on the Uber trip. From now on, only two passengers can sit in a car without a driver.
Healthcare guidelines when riding
In conjunction with the global and local public health authorities, some health safety guidelines have been developed that will be given to all drivers and passengers when riding.
